A Taste of Passion
Vancouver Island’s Liquid Art
Wine is more than a beverage, it is poetry in a glass, a reflection of place and passion. Around the world, wine lovers travel to vineyards in search of authenticity, connection, and that elusive magic that transforms grapes into liquid art. At the Villa Eyrie Resort, we invite you to go beyond tasting and become part of the creation. This is not a tour. It’s an immersion into the rhythm of the vineyard and the artistry of winemaking.
In partnership with Alderlea Vineyards, one of Vancouver Island’s pioneering wineries, guests are welcomed into a day in the life of winemakers Zac Brown and Julie Powell, a husband-and-wife duo whose devotion to the craft is as genuine as the land they nurture. Located just thirty minutes north of Villa Eyrie, their vineyard is a sanctuary of passion and purpose, where every vine tells a story and every vintage captures a moment in time.
From bud to bottle, guests will explore the intimate details that shape each harvest, from terroir and climate to varietal expression and blending philosophy. Whether pruning vines in spring, sampling grapes at harvest, or crafting wine in the cellar, you’ll gain rare insight into the choices and challenges that define a winemaker’s world.
Enjoy an interactive winery tour Alderlea Vineyards where you will learn about artisanal wine production and finish.

A Story in Every Bottle
Founded by Roger and Nancy Dosman and lovingly reimagined by Zac and Julie in 2017, Alderlea Vineyards stands as one of the Cowichan Valley’s original winegrowing estates. Drawn from global careers in Health & Safety and Human Resources, the couple traded corporate life for the romance of the vine, choosing Vancouver Island over France, Italy, or New Zealand for its natural beauty and pioneering spirit.
Their wines, expressive and elegant, mirror the soul of the region, coastal breezes, cool nights, and the quiet confidence of craftsmanship. Among them, Valerie, a blend created in memory of Julie’s late mother, embodies the heart and heritage behind every bottle.
